The Screen

Transformers on the HD2

The front of the HD2 is dominated by it’s extra-large screen. Only about 1/2 inch of the surface of the front of the phone is not screen. There is only room for the four tactile buttons on the front and the thin earpiece. The screen is a 4.3-inch HD touch-sensitive screen with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. In simple words it looks gorgeous. ┬áThe colors are crisp and bright and it shows no blurring during videos with fast motion scenes.

“It is like watching movies on my plasma tv at home” ,one HD2 owner said.

Even though the screen is so nice, it has a few flaws.

Like every other touch screen device, the HD2 is a fingerprint magnent. I find myself wiping it off almost everytime I go to use it. Since the screen is so large the prints are exagerated with long strecks up and down the screen. Seems like HTC should have included a microfibre cloth to wipe the screen.

Next, don’t plan on using this device in bright sunlight. The screen almost washes out completely in the sun. You may need one hand to use the phone and the other to provide shade.

  • Extra large screen size is great for viewing media
  • Crisp and clear picture from almost any viewing angle

  • It is the granddaddy of all finger print magnets
  • Don’t plan on using it alot outside in the sun
