These days everyone is online. I mean, my grandmother has a facebook account. My dad has more online transactions this month then I have had this year.

Now its time to surf better. Lets change the way we surf the web. Different internet browsers exist and the are not difficult to use.

Most people think that internet explorer is the only way to surf the web. Some of the browsers that exist are google chrome, mozilla firefox, opera, and safari

All off these browsers are free.

What is out there

Lets start with one, of my favorites Google Chrome. Chrome is a web browser made by google. Chrome offers a clean clutter free look and is very easy to use.

Another popular browser is Mozilla Firefox. This is like Internet Explorer on steroids. Firefox has a variety of plugins and add-ons to enhance your browsing experience. You and add almost any extension to make your browser so anything you want. Also this browser is highly customizable. There are loads of themes you can apply to it.

The next browser is Safari from Apple. This is by far the prettiest of all the browsers. This comes standard on Apple products, from the iphone to the Mac.

Safari

These are the three most popular browsers out there. All are free to download. All are faster and more reliable than Internet Explorer. Just try a different browser for a day or two. You may like it. If you don’t then just delete it, no harm, no foul.

You can download the browsers from these sites. Remember they all are free and these links are 100% safe.

To most people the abilty to take pictures whenever, wherever you want is a plus. Being able to take great pictures with is just icing on the cake. With that being said I want to discuss the camera on the HD2.

The Camera

The HD2 has a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash. It has a widescreen display and can take panoramic pictures. The HD2 also has digital zoom along with a touch to focus camera screen. Just touch the area you want to focus on and the phone does the rest. The camera app has several settings that can be used to change the quality of the pictures. The pictures are clear with lots of vibrant color.  It also can apply different effects to any picture you take. These include Grayscale, Sepia, and Negative. Even at the highest quality setting you can take over 17,000 pictures. (thanks 16gb Sd card)

The Camcorder

The HD2 also come packaged with a video camcorder.  The video maintains the same quality as the pictures. The video is bright and highly defined. The colors do not look washed out and the sound quality is good. Like the camera you can change the quality of the video. Even at it’s highest quality setting the HD2 can still record over 50hours of video (thanks again 16gb Sd card). As an added bonus the HD2 can take video messages. You can record a video message and send it to a friend……or an enemy!

Video can also be immediately uploaded to YouTube.  Here is an example taken from a moving car. (Sorry about the Fire Trucks)

Thumbs Up

  • Many different settings for pictures and video
  • Can take loads of pictures
  • Higher quality pictures on par with digital cameras
  • Can share videos on YouTube quickly

Thumbs Down

  • Smudges on the camera lens will distort the picture
  • Takes a couple seconds to focus

Anyone can find almost anything at Youtube.com. Just type in what Tv show you want. You may get full episodes of fan tributes. A broad search will net you hundreds of results, here is how to better focus your search.

HD2 Review part 2

The Screen

Transformers on the HD2

The front of the HD2 is dominated by it’s extra-large screen. Only about 1/2 inch of the surface of the front of the phone is not screen. There is only room for the four tactile buttons on the front and the thin earpiece. The screen is a 4.3-inch HD touch-sensitive screen with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution. In simple words it looks gorgeous.  The colors are crisp and bright and it shows no blurring during videos with fast motion scenes.

“It is like watching movies on my plasma tv at home” ,one HD2 owner said.

Even though the screen is so nice, it has a few flaws.

Like every other touch screen device, the HD2 is a fingerprint magnent. I find myself wiping it off almost everytime I go to use it. Since the screen is so large the prints are exagerated with long strecks up and down the screen. Seems like HTC should have included a microfibre cloth to wipe the screen.

Next, don’t plan on using this device in bright sunlight. The screen almost washes out completely in the sun. You may need one hand to use the phone and the other to provide shade.

THUMBS UP

  • Extra large screen size is great for viewing media
  • Crisp and clear picture from almost any viewing angle

THUMBS DOWN

  • It is the granddaddy of all finger print magnets
  • Don’t plan on using it alot outside in the sun

HD2 Review part 1

HD 2 Size Matters

It is finally time. I did not want to make a rushed decision about the HD2, so I decided to spend at least a week with it before I let you know what I thought about it. I have alot to review so let’s get right to it. (since it’s direct competitor is the iphone most comparisons will be to it)

Size and build quality

Ok, right off, this phone is huge.It is about 5 inches tall and about 3 inches wide. It is the size of a small notepad. Before you say that that is just too big, the screen itself makes up 4.3 inches of that. The phone is super thin, at it’s thickest point it is only about 1/4 of an inch. The HD2 is like a small stack of credit cards. By looking at it one would think that it is a brick. Surprisingly it is lighter than it looks. Weighing in at 5.54 ounces it is only an ounce heavier than the iphone.

It’s not that heavy but it does feel funny holding it up to your head to talk.

The build quality is awesome! It is like HTC grabbed all the best parts and made this phone. The plastics are dense and high quality. It is coated with some sort of soft neoprene material. Feels very good to the touch and does not get hot.  The back cover is actually made of brushed aluminum. Nice touch by HTC to make this a high end phone.
